Stockroom are a theatre company focused on collaborative writing and marginalised stories. We are working on a play highlighting issues around mould and social housing.
Theatre writers’ room Stockroom and producers of work for and about people with lived experience of homelessness, poverty, or inequity, Cardboard Citizens, are calling out to individuals with first-hand knowledge of the issue to come forward to contribute to the development of a new play highlighting the health dangers of damp and mould in social housing.
This project is being conducted by our team of writers and associates and will include other actors, researchers, experts, and those with experience with these subject matters.
The project is being developed by Stockroom writers, Georgia Crowther, Lilly Driscoll and Paula B Stanic, alongside facilitator Debbie Hannan and actors Sara Dawood and Alex Austin.
This has been sparked by reports that more than a fifth of homes in Britain have a level of mould that puts residents’ health at risk with potentially life-threatening consequences. This situation is exacerbated by the cost-of-living crisis which makes it even harder for tenants to afford the expense of eradicating the problem.
