The Year We Had
Over the past six months we at Stockroom have been working with theatre freelancers across the country to produce six extraordinary films that chart the common experiences of non-salaried theatre workers during the pandemic.
Partnering with filmmakers The Other Richard, Stockroom utilised its national network to find and commission these freelancers to illustrate their experiences of the last twelve months through the medium of film. Each was partnered with a writer in Stockroom’s salaried writers’ room to create a script based on their story, which has performed and filmed in and around their local theatre
The Year We Had brings together these works to tell the stories of this workforce and to show the extraordinary contribution it has made to our culture and society over the last year.
Beginning on Wednesday 7th July and running to Monday July 19th these two-minute studies of the recent lives of those who make up the UK theatre industry’s backbone will be released on the basis of two a week on the following timetable: –
Monday July 5th: Sheffield Theatres
Wednesday July 7th: Bristol Old Vic
Friday July 9th: Northampton Royal & Derngate
Monday July 12th: Hull Truck
